PPP moot pays tributes to President, Prime Minister for striving for betterment Archived

KARACHI, Feb 7 (APP): A meeting of the office- bearers of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) held here at the Chief Minister House here paid tributes to President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, for their efforts to undertake the country political and economic betterment.A resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting presided over by Prime Minister, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani.It expressed complete confidence in the leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani, and Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

The resolution pointed out that the PPP coalition government has successfully completed 23 months and is serving the people in accordance with the vision of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and the sentiments of the masses. It said that in the remaining three years and one month, the manifesto of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would be implemented in letter and spirit and a record of public service would be established. The resolution pointed out that when the present government came to power the country was faced with severe economic crisis as well as threat of terrorism.

President Asif Ali Zardari, who is also Co-chairman of the PPP, through his prudent policies steered the country out of the difficulties and with the help of democratic forces formed a coalition government so as to resolve the country’s problems through unity and cohesion and face the threat of terrorism. The resolution said that today the government along with Pakistan Army is tackling terrorists in Pakhtoonkhwa Province. The officers and jawans of Pakistan Army and personnel of law enforcement agencies had laid down their lives for the defence of the country, and destroyed the hideouts of terrorists. It is the resolve of the government to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country.

Another resolution vehemently condemned the bomb blasts in Karachi at Nursery and JPMC on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and termed this a dastardly act. It prayed for the early recovery of those who who sustained injuries in these blasts. The resolution said that those behind these blasts are enemy of the country, humanity and Islam and that 170 million people of the country are united against terrorism. Yet another resolution drew the Prime Minister’s attention towards shortage of water in Sindh and said that necessary steps be taken in this connection so that Sindh could get water in accordance with the 1991 water accord and shortage of water be overcome.

A resolution thanked the federal government especially President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani for assistance towards initiation of Thar Coal Project. The implementation of this project would help rid the country of electricity shortage and help attain prosperity.

Another resolution termed the achieving of National Finance Commission (NFC) Award through a consensus a victory of democracy and paid tributes to President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Sindh will get annually Rs 70 billion as a result of NFC award which will result in progress and prosperity in the province.
