President Pervez Musharraf was born in Delhi on 11th August, 1943. President Pervez Musharraf assumed office of the Chief Executive on 12th October 1999. He was sworn in as the 11th President of Pakistan on 20th June, 2001 and concurrently held with it the office of Chief Executive till 23rd November, 2002. President Musharraf was commissioned in an artillery regiment in 1964. He was promoted to the rank of General on 7th October, 1998 and appointed the Chief of Army Staff. He remained on this appointment till 28th November, 2007. He also held the additional charge of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee from April, 1999 to October, 2001. He left the office of Chief of Army Staff and took oath for the 2nd term as civilian President on 29th November, 2007. Resigned on August 18, 2008 in view of an impending impeachment.
