Ladies and gentlemen!
Assalam-O-Alaikum!

It is a great pleasure for me to address this gathering of young educated Pakistanis on the occasion of 8thconvocation of Riphah International University.
I would like to thank the management of the University for inviting me at this auspicious occasion.
I also wish to felicitate all the graduating students, their parents and the faculty for their continued efforts, devotion and dedication.
I wish all the passing out students success and luck in their future lives and careers.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today we are faced with numerous challenges including weak economy, security, law & order and of course the menace of terrorism. However, I consider education as one of the main contributing factors to address the challenges and to give a better future to our children.
Ladies and Gentlemen;
It is a matter of great satisfaction to note that the democratic Government is fully committed towards the cause of education in the country and is undertaking all possible measures to make education affordable and accessible to all the people of the country.

The promotion of education has been a key priority of the present government.
My presence here signifies the commitment of the Government towards education.
It also reflects my own passion and interest in this noble cause.
I have no doubt that we are a nation of talented people.
We are fortunate that majority of our population comprises of youth. Over sixty percent of our population is between 17-25 years old. This indeed is a rich human resource.
Our youth have the required potential and capability to bring about constructive change in the society.
But this great potential needs to be channelized and tapped in a proper manner.
It needs to be groomed in such a way as to become the most productive asset for the society.
This is only possible through quality education
Ladies and Gentlemen;
The 21st century is a century of knowledge and innovation.
It requires a creative problem solving approach.
Our universities and institute of higher learning therefore need to become the hub of generating innovative ideas and inventions.
In the context of higher education, the Government’s priority is to promote research culture, with focus on capacity building to produce community of individuals who can effectively contribute to

Pakistan’s economic, political and social development.
Ladies and Gentlemen
I am indeed pleased to see that within a decade of its existence, Riphah International University has established its campuses in applied sciences within and outside Pakistan.
Being Patron of the University, I would like to record my appreciation for the visionary leadership of Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Muhammad Zulfiqar Ali Khan, the Founder Chancellor, Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan, Pro Chancellor and Prof. Dr. Anis Ahmad, the founder Vice Chancellor, the management team and the faculty and staff who are totally committed to the cause of knowledge production.
I assure you of my continuous support and patronage in achieving the targets and goals of the University.
In the end while congratulating the graduating students once again, I would like to remind them that they owe their success to their parents, teachers and to the society which has contributed in their upbringing and success.
I am confident that you would establish your credentials by virtue of your discipline, professional competence, honesty and integrity.
I would like to end my speech by quoting our great leader Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah. The Quaid said: (quote)
“You must concentrate on gaining knowledge and education. It is your foremost responsibility. Political awareness of the era is also part of your education. You must be aware of international events and environment. Education is a matter of life and death for our country.”(unquote)
May Allah’s guidance be with you in achieving your future goals and targets and may Allah Almighty grant you courage to face the challenges of life with the strength of mind and character. Ameen.
