President orders to expedite renovation of Lal Shahbaz shrine
President Asif Ali Zardari today chaired a briefing to review progress made so far on the renovation and extension of mazar of Lal Shahbaz Qalander here at Bilawal House, Karachi.
Those who were present during the briefing included among others Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh, Pir Mazhar-ul-Haq, Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Mir Nadir Magsi, Agha Siraj Khan Durrani, Syed Murad Ali Shah, Mr. Sharjeel Memon and other provincial ministers and the concerned officials of relevant departments and those involved with the project.
The President was informed that RCC dome of the shrine has been completed and the related work was in progress. It was informed that the Golden tiles work on the dome would be completed by the end of August 2012 whereas the work on Kashi tiles being undertaken by the Iranian artisans would be completed by the end of September 2012.
With regards to the extension of the shrine, it was informed that the initial measures for the extension had been taken in hand. It was informed that the plan for construction and development of the area has been prepared which includes construction of compound walls and gates, shades for zaireen, umbrellas in the courtyard, marble flooring, security system and installation of CCTV cameras, drainage and electrification etc.
The President called for expediting the renovation work and said that the shrine be renovated to provide all possible facilities to the zaireen on modern lines. He said that the extension work should be carried out to make the shrine more roomy and spacious for the visitors.
