Islamabad
Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan since 1963, and Rawalpindi are both located on the Pothowar Plain. The old parts of Rawalpindi display examples of local architecture and bazaars with traditional craftspersons. Meanwhile, Islamabad is home to an interesting variety of modern buildings designated as government offices. The city also has an air of spaciousness, with parks, gardens, and fountains below the silhouette of the Margalla Hills. It is also home to the largest park in South East Asia, Fatima Jinnah Park. In the hills lies Daman-e-Koh, a terraced garden with an excellent view over the city. Also in Islamabad is the Shah Faisal Masjid, which can accommodate 10,000 worshipers.
