Message on  Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day (Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan) - 19 July 2026

Today, we pay tribute to the historic resolution adopted by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference on 19 July 1947, which reflected the political aspirations of the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir at a defining moment in the history of the subcontinent.

​The observance of this day reminds us of the deep-rooted historical, cultural and spiritual bonds between the people of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir. It also reaffirms the enduring significance of respecting the freely expressed will of the Kashmiri people in determining their future.

​For nearly eight decades, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute has remained unresolved despite the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions recognising the right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to self-determination. The continued denial of this fundamental right, coupled with persistent human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), remains a matter of serious concern for the international community.

​Pakistan has consistently advocated a peaceful and just resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. We urge the international community, particularly the United Nations, to fulfil its responsibility by supporting efforts aimed at ensuring the realisation of the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination.

​I salute the courage, resilience and steadfastness of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have made immense sacrifices in pursuit of their legitimate rights. Pakistan will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters and extend unwavering diplomatic, political and moral support until they are able to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination.

​May this day renew our collective resolve to work for a peaceful, just and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, leading to enduring peace, security and prosperity in South Asia.

​آج  کا دن جموں و کشمیر مسلم کانفرنس کی جانب سے 19 جولائی 1947 کو منظور کی جانے والی اس تاریخی قرارداد کی یاد میں ہے جو برصغیر کی تاریخ کے ایک فیصلہ کن موڑ پر جموں و کشمیر کے مسلمانوں کی سیاسی امنگوں کی آئینہ دار بنی۔

​یہ دن ہمیں پاکستان اور جموں و کشمیر کے عوام کے مابین گہرے تاریخی، ثقافتی اور روحانی رشتوں کی یاد دلاتا ہے اور اپنے مستقبل کا فیصلہ کرنے میں کشمیری عوام کی آزادانہ مرضی کا احترام کرنے کی اہمیت کا بھی اعادہ کرتا ہے۔

​تقریباً آٹھ دہائیوں سے، جموں و کشمیر کا تنازع اقوامِ متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی متعلقہ قراردادوں کے باوجود، جن میں جموں و کشمیر کے عوام کے حقِ خودارادیت کو تسلیم کیا گیا ہے، حل نہیں ہو،سکا۔ 

اس بنیادی حق کا مسلسل انکار اور بھارت کے غیر قانونی زیرِ تسلط جموں و کشمیر میں انسانی حقوق کی مسلسل خلاف ورزیاں، عالمی برادری کے لیے گہری تشویش کا باعث ہیں۔

​پاکستان نے ہمیشہ اقوامِ متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی متعلقہ قراردادوں اور کشمیری عوام کی امنگوں کے مطابق اس تنازعہ کے پرامن اور منصفانہ حل کی وکالت کی ہے۔ ہم عالمی برادری، بالخصوص اقوامِ متحدہ پر زور دیتے ہیں کہ وہ کشمیری عوام کے حقِ خودارادیت کے حصول کو یقینی بنانے کی کوششوں کی حمایت کر کے اپنی ذمہ داری پوری کرے۔

​میں جموں و کشمیر کے عوام کے حوصلے اور پختہ عزم کو سلام پیش کرتا ہوں، جنہوں نے اپنے جائز حقوق کے حصول کے لیے لازوال قربانیاں دی ہیں۔ پاکستان اپنے کشمیری بھائیوں اور بہنوں کے ساتھ شانہ بشانہ کھڑا رہے گا اور ان کے ناقابلِ تنسیخ حقِ خودارادیت کے حصول تک اپنی غیر متزلزل سفارتی، سیاسی اور اخلاقی حمایت جاری رکھے گا۔

​امید ہے کہ یہ دن جموں و کشمیر کے تنازع کے پرامن، منصفانہ اور پائیدار حل کے لیے ہمارے اجتماعی عزم کو نئی جلا بخشے اور جنوبی ایشیا میں پائیدار امن، سلامتی اور خوشحالی کا پیش خیمہ ثابت ہو۔
